Are you enthusiastic, organised and interested in working with children and young people?

Newport City Council is currently seeking to appoint a number of seasonal Senior Play Rangers to join our Play Development Team, to help us deliver a range of outdoor based play opportunities across Newport during Summer 2019. Newport City Council is looking for individuals who have experience of working in play, preferably in an outdoor based environment and of leading a small team.

Newport City Council recognises the significance and the value of play in children's development and their innate desire to seek out opportunities as part of their play and learning. As a Senior Play Ranger you will lead and support a small team to provide opportunities for all children to explore both themselves and the communities they live in. You will encourage this through the provision of outdoor activities in open spaces, so you should be willing to work with the natural elements, get messy and generally ensure that the children have fun.

Outdoor Play sessions operate on an open access basis which allows children to choose when, and for how long they stay engaged in the activities. As a Senior Play Ranger you will be involved in the planning and delivery of a programme to give children the incentive to play and allow them to experience the outdoor environment in a sociable and playful way.

The playschemes operate in various areas of Newport throughout the holiday. You will need to be fully available from Monday 22 July - Friday 23 August 2019.  Attendance is mandatory.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
