National School Grounds Week is Learning Through Landscapes’s (LTL) annual campaign to show just how easy – and worthwhile - it can be to take teaching and learning outdoors. Research tells us that learning beyond the classroom is often more memorable and helps children make sense of their learning.

Estyn has said, “There is a consensus among practitioners and local authorities that children’s knowledge and understanding of the world and physical development of the world improve best where outdoor resources and facilities are best exploited”.

This year LTL is teaming up with Waste Watch and Keep Britain Tidy's Eco Schools to deliver a week long programme of ideas, inspiration and support for schools and early years settings across the UK.

Each day will explore the different types of resources we waste and will offer schools the opportunity to come up with some creative recycling ideas and discussion topics suitable for early years, primary and secondary children.

The themes for each day will be:
Monday: Time

Tuesday: Water

Wednesday: Fabric

Thursday: Paper
Friday: Food
