Research: 'death' of traditional outdoor games?

17-09-2012

New research commissioned by clothing retailer Landsend 'reveals traditional childhood games such as Hopscotch and "What's the time Mr Wolf?" are disappearing forever as it emerges children are turning their backs on classic outdoor play'.

The poll of 3020 parents in the UK found that although 48% had played Marbles/Jacks as a child 0% of them has observed their children playing Marbles/Jacks.

Only 3% of parents are concerned about their children sustaining minor injuries while playing outside and 87% of parents believe outdoor play encourages social development in children.
