Minister celebrates role of play in children’s lives

Deputy Minister Vaughan Gething will join the hundreds of families that are expected to attend a special event in Caerphilly later that will celebrate the important role of play in children’s lives.

The crowds are expected to turn up at Morgan Jones Park to mark Playday, the national day for play in the UK, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August. There will be a range of play activities for children and parents to take part in including tree nets, den building, a foam pit, and story-telling.

Vaughan Gething said:

“Play is such an important part of our children’s lives, helping them to grow both physically and emotionally. This event is a unique way to celebrate this. It is important that all of us remember that play is vital to a child’s development and we must all make sure we give them every chance to do so.”
