New info sheet: Safeguarding children
Written by Sue Bradshaw this information sheet provides policy and procedures in relation to safeguarding children for adoption and adaptation at play settings. It also includes guidelines on how to respond to disclosures and advice to support preventing children from future harm.
This is an updated version of the Safeguarding our children information sheet Play Wales published in 2008.
Sue Bradshaw has worked with children in different capacities for the past 36 years, as a residential social worker, social skills project worker, playgroup organiser, playworker, circus skills tutor, school governor and for the last twenty years teaching children with emotional and behavioural difficulties in Pupil Referral Units spanning the statutory age range. She a psychology degree, which provided a foundation for her work with children.
The production of this information sheet has been funded by the Welsh Government to support the developments arising from the Play Sufficiency Assessments completed by each local authority in Wales. Section 11 of the Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010 places a duty on local authorities to assess and secure sufficient play opportunities for children in their area.
