National Trust Kids Council

The National Trust has recruited a group of ten children aged between seven and 11 to form a new Kids Council to provide advice on how the Trust can increase children’s interest in nature and the outdoors and how to progress the ‘50 Things To Do Before You’re 11¾’ list.

The Kids Council’s first proposal was to create a mudslide! The Council will report to the Getting Outdoors and Closer to Nature Programme board and will share their recommendations at four meetings across the year.

Iona Howells, aged 11 from the Kids’ Council, said:
‘I want to make other children see that being outdoors can be fun. I hate sitting still inside so it is great to be part of getting other kids to play outside!'
