FIT Award for Caerphilly County Borough Council
Caerphilly County Borough Council won the Landowner of the Year Award at the inaugural Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony.
The Awards celebrated the achievements of the charity’s Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge. Caerphilly County Borough Council was honoured for protecting more acres as part of The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge than any other UK landowner – an incredible total of 1139 acres.
Queen Elizabeth II Field status protects green sites for perpetuity ensuring communities have access to these spaces for generations to come. 1506 sites (98 in Wales) have been nominated as part of the Challenge to date and over £3 million has been secured in improvement funds for these sites.
