Fields in Trust – Active Spaces project28-06-2017Back to News
A new Fields in Trust protection programme, Active Spaces will create a legacy of 50 permanently safeguarded outdoor spaces across the UK and tackle physical inactivity. A total of five of these newly protected sites will be in Wales.
This is the first time that project funders, The London Marathon Charitable Trust has supported community projects in Wales.
The programme will protect recreational land and encourage people, particularly the most inactive communities, to participate in physical activity, sport and play.
Each protected site will be awarded a grant of up to £5,000 to fund programmes that inspire the local community to get active. Programmes can include any activity including walking, cycling or coaching on the use of outdoor gym equipment. One chosen site in each home nation which demonstrates the most significant impact will receive a major grant of £25,000 for its activation programme.
