The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) is changing its process for checking three year Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificates renewals and how to apply for DBS checks.
As a means of simplifying processes, CSSIW will no longer remind child minders and providers of children’s day care services of the need to complete and submit a renewal for their DBS certificates or present their DBS where that is required.
The Inspectorate is also proposing changes to how people can apply for a DBS check in relation to CSSIW applications or renewals. From 2018, CSSIW will no longer directly manage DBS checks. These will be managed by an external provider who will process DBS applications on its behalf.
