KidsRights publishes annual children’s rights index

The international children’s rights charity KidsRights has jointly published its annual global index with Erasmus University Rotterdam. The index ranks how countries adhere to and are equipped to improve children’s rights.

The index measures children’s rights in five areas:

  • Right to life
  • Right to health
  • Right to education
  • Right to protection
  • An enabling environment for child rights.

It includes a ranking of all 182 UN member states that have ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Norway tops the list, followed by Iceland. The United Kingdom has a global ranking of 173 out of the 182 countries.
