Protect the future of P3
We have recently written to every learner that has undertaken Playwork: Principles into Practice (P3) in recent years regarding protecting the future of the qualification:
As you may know Play Wales’ application for Welsh Government funding for the next three years has been unsuccessful. As a consequence the Board of Trustees has issued redundancy notices to all staff.
One of the serious effects of this decision is that Play Wales will no longer be able to support the delivery of P3.
We very much regret that learners who are part way through their P3 qualification will not be able to continue with it. This includes learners at level 2 and level 3.
We strongly urge learners who are unhappy with this situation to make their feelings known as a matter of urgency. You can do this by:
Writing to Welsh Government Ministers Jeff Cuthbert AM Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty and Vaughan Gething AM Deputy Minister for Tackling Poverty as soon as possible.
If you live or work in Wales please copy the letter to your Assembly Member. Contact details can be found here. Alternatively, visit your Assembly Member in their constituency surgeries.
We have included an example template letter that you can sign and send to the Ministers. However, we would recommend you adapt it and make it personal to your particular situation – including whether you are currently undertaking the qualification or you have recently completed.
Your support is absolutely vital in making the case for Play Wales and the qualifications it provides. Please add your voice to the campaign – we believe it is winnable. Together we can make a difference and change this decision to cease Play Wales’ funding and protect the future of P3.
