Play Wales and the BIG Lottery Child's Play programme

In August 2006 Play Wales was contracted for three years to help deliver the Child's Play programme in Wales. The contract ends in August 2009.

Our role within the Child's Play programme has been to:

 - develop a strategic overview of children's play in Wales

 - work with local organisations to help them identify gaps in provision and agree priorities for investment

 - provide expert advice to applicants and help them to develop projects that meet agreed local priorities and fit national strategies.

The aims of the Child's Play Programme include:

 - the development of new play spaces for children in their communities;

 - the development of play opportunities that provide space for children to choose how they play;

 - the development of staffed open access play opportunities.

The BIG Lottery £20 million Healthy Families Initative is split in two: the Child's Play Programme and the Way of Life Programme. Hall Aitken has been awarded the contract to carry out work with the Way of Life Programme.
