Are you enthusiastic and interested in working with children
and young people? We are currently seeking to appoint a
Playclub Playworker to join our Play Development Team, to help
us deliver a wide range of activities within the Continuing
Learning and Leisure Service Area.
We recognise the significance and the value of play in
children's development and their innate desire to seek out
opportunities as part of their play and learning. As a
Playclub Playworker, you will work as part of a team to provide
opportunities for children to explore both themselves and the
communities they live in. This involves both indoor and outdoor
activities, so you should be willing to work with the natural
elements, get messy and generally ensure that the children have
fun.
Play Clubs operate on an 'open access' basis which
allows children to choose when, and for how long they stay in
the play setting. As a Playclub Playworker you should be able
to assist in the planning and delivery of a programme to give
children the incentive to stay and play.
The play clubs operate in various areas of Newport at
various times, term time only. There is currently a vacancy
at:
Maesglas Playclub: Monday Thursday,
2.45pm 5.15pm (10 hours per week).
The position is offered on a fixed term basis until March
2011, due to funding.
There are opportunities for staff to undertake Play training
if you are a regular Playworker. Ideally you will have some
experience in a play setting or working with children.
These posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders
Act (1974) and are subject to a successful Criminal Records
Bureau (CRB) check.
You can print an application form, job description and job
requirement via the Newport City Council website, or
alternatively they are available by phone on 01633 656656 or by
email quoting the
reference number and where you saw the post advertised.
Please return completed application forms to: HR/Recruitment
