The Bigger Picture - Working with Children and Families in Wales

Half day course

This workshop is aimed at supporting a better understanding of current Welsh Government Policy and Programmes.

The course will consider the current Welsh Government Programme for Government – Taking Wales Forward, and the associated National Strategy – Prosperity for All - and consider the key messages for children and families in these documents including how children’s rights are being addressed through initiatives on child poverty, health, social care and education.

Participants will:

  • Gain an brief overview of the political context and processes that shape policy in Wales
  • Learn about Welsh Government policies, programmes and strategies relevant to children and young people
  • Understanding the national priorities for children and family services
  • Explore how their organisation and key areas of work fit with the main policy areas concerning children, young people and families.

 

Aimed at:

Practitioners, and managers from all sectors and all organisations keen to explore how their area of work fits in with the bigger picture of child and family policy in Wales. It will help organisations to prepare for predicted changes and to operate effectively within a multi-agency context.
