This conference will focus on children, play and space. Its aim is to inform and progress the agenda for neighbourhoods, towns and cities that are child and play friendly.
The conference is for practitioners, researchers, students, public officials and policymakers involved in issues of play and space during childhood. This includes playworkers, teachers, youth workers and parks and recreation managers.
The conference themes include:
- Play in schools
- Street play, planning and the built environment
- Play in the early years.
In the first instance, all bookings will be for an online event. Depending on coronavirus guidelines, delegates will have the option of attending the event at Birmingham University’s conference centre.
Confirmed speakers for the event include Tim Gill (Rethinking Childhood), Alison Stenning (Newcastle University), Adrian Voce (Playful Planet) and Matluba Khan (Cardiff University). The conference will be co-chaired by Peter Kraftl (Birmingham University) and Andrea Davis (Birmingham University’s Children and Childhood Network).
