Child Minding and Day Care Exceptions Order call for evidence – key findings

The Welsh Government has published a summary of key findings to the call for evidence in relation to The Child Minding and Day Care Exceptions (Wales) Order 2010.

The call for evidence, which was held earlier this year, received 20 responses from a range of organisations, including local authorities, child minders and charitable organisations supporting play, such as Play Wales.

The report includes a summary of responses to each question asked in the call for evidence. Key issues have been identified and the next steps include:

  • The Deputy Minister for Health and Social Service has agreed to take steps to provide more information to parents regarding the difference between registered and unregistered childcare provision.
  • The Choosing Childcare booklet produced by the Welsh Government and disseminated through Family Information Services will be refreshed with a view to raising awareness amongst parents of some of these differences.
  • The Deputy Minister will also aim to issue a full consultation on the Order before the end of 2020.
