Guidance on changes to NMS for Regulated Childcare
The Welsh Government has published guidance to explain the temporary changes to some standards in the National Minimum Standards (NMS) to help childcare and playwork providers in Wales to reopen or look after more children.
The COVID-19 and the National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years: June - 30 September 2020 guidance relates to ‘Circular Letter WG 007/2020’, which provides guidance to the childcare and playwork sector, as providers look to reopen or increase their operations as a result of the easing of the restrictions relating to the coronavirus pandemic. It explains under what circumstances, and subject to what arrangements, Welsh Government will allow the temporary relaxation of some of the requirements in the NMS for Regulated Childcare.
The Welsh Government has also updated the National Minimum Standards (NMS) regulated childcare: COVID-19 guidance guidance, which explains how the temporary changes to some standards in the NMS have been extended to support childcare providers caring for all children. It includes information on:
- Getting approval for changes
- Physical distancing
- Identity verification checks and Disclosure of Barring Service (DBS).
