Active Travel to School Toolkit
The Cross-Party Group on the Active Travel Act has published a new toolkit on how to encourage children to walk, cycle or scoot to school in Wales. It is suitable for teachers, parents, governors, local councillors and other responsible members of a school community to use.
The Active Travel to School Toolkit provides evidence and arguments about why active travel to school is good for children, parents and the community. It also includes practical suggestions, examples of good practice and links to further advice and support about active travel.
Over 100 individuals and organisations were involved in the development of the toolkit, including Cycling UK, Living Streets, Sustrans and Welsh Cycling.
The chair for the Cross-Party Group on the Active Travel Act, Huw Irranca-Davies MS said:
‘Walking, cycling or scooting to school brings huge benefits to children, families and communities. It improves health, protects the environment, strengthens social ties, boosts academic performance and reduce congestion.’
